SOUNDS OF THE SILK ROAD
This year CHROMA brings a taste of sounds from regions along the ancient Silk Road – the network of trade routes that connected the East and the West, key to the economic, cultural, political and religious interactions between these regions for 2000 years up to the 18th century.
The children will be introduced to the particular tonalities and rhythms of these cultures, going on a journey that starts in China, and travels through India, Arabia and Africa before landing in Constantinople, hosted by Zoë along the way.
CHROMA brings flute, alto flute, oboe, cor anglais, violin and cello to the schools, with percussion joining for the concert at the John Innes Centre.
