Date(s) - 22/03/2021 - 23/03/2021
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Part of Zoë’s funk piece “Slap On” will be performed by London Sinfonietta as part of the culmination of this year’s Sound Out programme – Sinfonietta’s flagship schools programme, and this year will be live-streamed online, from London on Monday 22 March at 2.00pm and from Southampton on Tuesday 23 March at 2.00pm.
Since 2017, the London Sinfonietta has been working in partnership with the music services of Haringey, Enfield and Waltham Forest, delivering live in-school concerts and creative workshops with young people, to inspire creativity and encourage pupils to compose their own music. With this model of working suddenly becoming impossible from last March, the London Sinfonietta has this year delivered Sound Out entirely online – providing new digital resources to schools to support classroom music-making throughout the pandemic.
As a result, we are delighted to have reached and involved young people from all over the country for the first time, and to be presenting two major concerts for schools in London and Southampton. Join us as we explore iconic contemporary classical music and guide young people through the building blocks of composition. In Southampton, you’ll have the chance to hear a new piece composed as the culmination of a project with Southampton Music Hub’s Youth Concert Sinfonia, and in London, we’ll be performing two pieces written by young people as part of our Composition Challenges.
Both concerts will last approximately 50 minutes (2:00 – 2:50pm), the YouTube live stream links for which are provided below. These will enable you to tune in at the respective performance times.
