Choir of Clare College, Cambridge perform Zoë’s “Karakia”

Date(s) - 29/01/2023
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Zoë’s piece “Karakia” will be performed by the choir of Clare College, Cambridge, as part of Sunday choral evensong, in which Zoë will also perform as cellist with the choir Frank Ferko’s “Lord, let at last Thine angels come”

Written for her mother shortly before her death, this beautiful piece is a setting of a Maori prayer (her mother was from New Zealand):

“Cease the winds from the west
Cease the winds from the south
Let the breeze blow over the land
Let the breeze blow over the ocean
Let the red-tipped dawn come with sharpened air. A touch of frost, a promise of a glorious day.”
